it's possible that minecraft maybe useing all of your laptop's RAM and it's having to use the virtual memory to increase the amount of memory that it has to work with.i know that my desktop PC slows down when it has to use it's virtual memory (i have 256MB of SDRAM). this even effects the most basic functions of my PC. could you post a few more specs of your laptop so that we can get a sense of what your working with?

The games you are having difficulties with may take up more VRAM (as opposed to GPU processing power) than the games you can run fine with. There may also be an issue with the drivers, make sure they are updated (or even try installing a previous driver). Also, a lot of the more open-world style games may use more system RAM and could be the source of your problems, although they should release it back upon game exit. Wouldn't hurt to try an optimizer program, such as Ashampoo's WinOptimizer, and see if doing a registry cleaner and basic system opimization may help a little. Another option is to use GameBooster (or do it manually) to shut down unneeded background tasks while your game is running. Might even want to switch to Windows Aero basic them and disable some visual effects to get the most resources for your game.

could be hardware related, make sure to open her up and keep the fans real clean. You may even want to use a program like cpu-z to check your hardware and make sure the ram and cpu are running at the speeds they should be. Have you tried using a previous version of your GPU drivers?

Some time over use of laptop can make your laptop slow. So use it as laptop not as Desktop. By judging the condition from your laptop specification it will be to take load of any game.
