Ideas for new ranks

Guys,

We currently have the rather boring forum ranks that you see beside your name and I was wondering if we could'nt improve on them a bit more. I want ideas and indeed graphics if possible for a new range of ranks. I would like to make them more related to our forum and also make a lot more of them.

Rank images change based on how many posts you make or on your status. I would like to have around 10-15 rank images so that it would change more often as your post count goes up.

Possible ideas

A series of joysticks from old to new
An increasing graph in colour from red to green
A series of game characters

any ideas?

The game characters for sure, but why not also allow for a custom graph as well? Like since I'm into dragons so much allowing me to find something with like dragon eyes or something (done in 8bit graphics of course)...

I agree with the video game characters. But he is also asking for ideas lol. Of which I have none. But I could try to put some of the palates together. Must. Catch. Up. On. Homework. Though.

I think I agree, game characters would be pretty cool. Will take a bit of work. If you are able to find icon sized game characters for me to use that would be great. like this guy

Actually, you should just use all the forms of mario for the graph... from the first game to the last game. Original mario to modern mario, and every different model in-between. :3

Or at least the major models... like Donkey Kong mario, then Mario Bros. 1985 / Duck Hunt mario, then SMB2, then SMB3 and so on... I think that would be cool.

Ugghhh you stole the words right out of my mouth. I think you should stick to one series of games cuz multiple ones would be confusing, otherwise you would have things like this, "wait wait kirby goes AFTER Samus samus would kick kirbys butt". Plus, Mario is a Widely known and Iconic Figure in retro games. I mean who doesn' love this guy?

I don't want to make ranking too confusing, but my thought of the day is as follows:
1; You have posters like myself who are not that adept in the help area.
2; You have posters who would be very adept in the help area.
3; You would have posters who would come up with great ideas, and who would contribute ideas that could be become new thread headings or stickys.
4; You would probably end up with posters who are just posting to boost their ranking.

My thought would be to reward those who are adept in the help and idea area would be to give bonuses to them by having other users to rate their contribution as good, helpful, not helpful, solved, not solved. Something along those lines, applied to 2 and 3 above.

Not to diminish anybody who inputs to the site, for some of the trivial threads, and game threads a straight up ranking system for those posts.

just my early morning thought.
