FAQ: Which SNES Emulator? [Windows]

Ones I have personally used and endorse (will play most games at full speed with sufficient hardware) will be marked by an * (asterisk). For more emulators and systems go to: my main thread
==========================================================================

*BSNES: This emulator aims for accuracy instead of speed, claims 100% compatibility with every commercial SNES game, but you may have trouble running them at full speed. Recommended for people with moderately nice hardware.

-BSNES-SX2: This is a modified version of BSNES, altered to make use of the BS-X files used by the X-Satellaview (a satellite modem for the Super Famicom)

-no$sns: an emulator from the no cash series. A fairly good emulator/debugger.

-SNEeSe: an older, discontinued emulator. Good for older, slower systems. Video emulation is not perfect, but sound is allegedly real nice.

*SNES9x: a very good, fairly accurate SNES emulator with great compatibility.

-SNES9x-RR: the RR is for rerecording. "The primary purpose is to expand features related to creating Tool-Assisted movies." -from their website.

-SNES9x-sx2: This is a modified version of SNES9x (like the BSNES one above), altered to make use of the BS-X files used by the X-Satellaview (a satellite modem for the Super Famicom).

-SNESGT: an alternative approach to X-Satellaview support.

*ZSNES: one of the first SNES emulators to offer wide support for games, although it is a bit out of date, still a good choice for most games.
