Mmm quite disappointing that it doesn't support GameCube games, but I am curious if it will transfer my old WiiWare games into the new "U"...

You will be able to transfer all your Wii Data to the Wii U It looks like they are moving Gamecube Games to the Virtual Console...

you have to basically delete it all of the Wii to move it to the Wii U. There have also been some issues transferring the data..
