You can see the build spec and inside of my rig if you read this thread. Water cooling is best if you dont plan on moving your case around. If you do want it to be slightly mobile then use the sealed systems instead.

The motherboard is upgradable for the i7 and I think the skylake series of CPUs, when I get the money to afford those. For what I have right now though, I am pretty satisfied. I plan to add more RAM when I can.

It's interesting seeing the previous responses in this thread, I realize now just how far along I've come, computer-wise that is, in the past 5 or so years. It's insane, if you'd have told me 5 years ago when I was running my old Sony VAIO that I was going to have the beast of a machine I currently have, I'd have shit a brick.

Funny, thinking about that old Sony VAIO which I got rid of a long time ago... I got it back from the person I sold it to, so the laptop I was using when I started being a regular around here instead of lurking in the shadows all the time... I have it back. I'm going to boot it up for the first time in the past 3 years here soon. I can't wait to see how it starts up lol.



Oh, and I'm upgrading my GPU here in a month or so to the GTX 980 Ti 6GB card.

i remember when i first join TOC, my retro rig was my only computer and it had a 366MHz intel celeron cpu and only about 196MB of ram. but over the years, thanks to the friends i've made here, i have a newer more powerful computer (thanks Crusty, Kherr,Bumcake). and my retro computer has become wicked awesome.

I just changed (today) the display cards in my work rig from 2 x R9 290x in Crossfire to an Nvidia ASUS 980Ti 20th Anniversary Edition and it is a lovely card. I got fed up with ATI drivers not working properly with three screens. I gave ATI every chance to fix the issue but sadly a year on and they still have not addressed the flickering issue that plagues many users with multiple screens.

It will take something to take me away from Nividia again, their drivers are so much more professional.
