Microsoft doesn't like any of the other OS's because they want to dominate the market... which they're doing very well... so they don't want the chance of having any competition. So they make it so that when you install windows, windows modifies your MBR to automatically boot into windows and skip any other OS found while disabling any boot loaders you may have installed by reading the MBR that windows modified first before checking for a GRUB boot loader.
If you install linux first, the MBR will be set to access after the GRUB boot loader (if you enable it). Installing windows second overwrites this configuration and also modifies the MBR to see only windows. So if you install windows first, the MBR gets modified like normal, but then when you install linux second, linux automatically fixes the MBR by removing the grip windows has on it, then you enable the GRUB boot loader to load before the MBR, and bam. All set.
Just try and think like micro$oft for a quick second. It becomes clear really quickly. :3
