FILE 01THE BASICS

Using The Old Computer

The site brings together historical reference material, ROM and emulator listings, community discussion and optional supporter features. Information is provided for research, personal interest and preservation, subject to applicable law and third-party rights.

You are responsible for making sure that your use of downloaded materials is lawful in your location and consistent with the relevant licences. The presence of a file in the archive is not a grant of rights to redistribute or commercially exploit it.

Donations & Unlimited Membership

Financial contributions are used to support website operation and the preservation of its historical archive. The project is not run to make a profit from members or their activity data.

Unlimited membership provides the access or convenience features described on the membership page. These are supporter benefits, not a licence or transfer of copyright in games, ROMs, firmware, music, artwork or other material.

Applicable Law & International Visitors

The Old Computer is operated from the United Kingdom. These site terms are subject to applicable law and any mandatory consumer protections that apply in the visitor’s circumstances.

Being able to access the archive from another country does not necessarily mean all features or downloads are legally available there. Please check local requirements; no term here is intended to remove rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

FILE 07FAIR USE

Protecting the Service

We may take proportionate steps to investigate harmful behaviour, investigate rights complaints, address security incidents, remove material or temporarily restrict access while a problem is resolved.

Please contact the site administrator if you think a moderation or account decision has been made in error.
